Using the library
Library Usage Guide (for students, teachers and staff of Doshisha University)
|Admission||All the members of Doshisha University are required to carry their ID cards (student/teacher/staff ID, or a library card) when entering the library. If you forget to bring your ID card, please contact the reception counter. |
|Borrowing||Please bring the item(s) you wish to borrow to the main counter with your ID card and complete the necessary check-out procedures. |
Details of any changes will be posted on campus bulletin boards as well as on this website.
|Returning||Please return any borrowed items at the main counter, or drop them in the Book Return Slot if the library is closed, before the due date.|
- Checked-out materials can be returned to any of the following libraries: Imadegawa Library and the Learned Memorial Library.
|Renewal||If you wish to renew borrowed materials, please bring them to the main counter with your ID card before the due date. You will not be able to renew an item if it has been requested by another person.|
Renewal can also be done online via My DOORS.
|Reservation||You can submit a request to reserve an item that is currently on loan to someone else. |
Please fill out a reservation form at the main counter or reserve online via DOORS (or MobileDOORS).
You can reserve up to 10 items.
You will be informed by email when reserved items become available.
Reserved items will be held for 10 days from notification of availability.
|Online Services||Using DOORS , you can reserve materials, as well as make requests for interlibrary loan/photocopy or purchase services . You can also register for the SDI (Selective Dissemination of Information) service, which keeps users informed by email of new publications in their fields of interest, and the Alert service, which sends email notifications to users when the latest issues arrive of periodicals subscribed to by the library. |
Via My DOORS, you can check your library record, renew borrowed materials, and cancel reservations or purchase requests.
|Closed-stack materials||You can use closed-stack materials at Imadegawa Library. Please fill out an application form and submit it to the main counter with your ID card.|
|Delivery Request||You can request books and other materials from the other campus library. |
Please fill out a request form and apply at the main counter.
|Materials of research laboratories||If you wish to use materials of research laboratories, please inquire at the main counter or the reference counter.|
Availabilities and usage rules are different depending on each research laboratory.
- If you have overdue items, you will not be able to borrow, renew or reserve any further items, nor make requests for delivery, purchase, or interlibrary loan/photocopying services.
|Photocopying||Photocopying of library materials is permitted within the limits of copyright law. The photocopy fee is 10 yen per page.|
Photocopying of personal books or notebooks in the library is not permitted.
|Rare materials||Materials in the Rare Books Room of Imadegawa Library can be used in the library office after filling out a request form.|
Opening hours of the Rare Books Room:
10:00 - 19:00 during semester periods
10:00 - 17:00 during non-semester periods
(10:00 - 17:00 during the summer opening period)
Taking photocopies of any of the materials is strictly forbidden.
Only copying with a pencil is permitted.
Personal laptops can be used in the library office.
|Audio-visual materials||To use audio-visual materials, such as videos, DVDs and CDs, please bring them to the reception desk of the Multimedia Library with your ID card. You can freely enjoy them within the Multimedia Library, though they are not available for loan.|
|Libraries of Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts||You can enter the libraries of Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts with your teacher/staff ID or library card of Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts, and use or borrow their materials. You can also request the delivery of materials from the College’s Imadegawa or Kyotanabe libraries to the library of your choice.|
