Library Usage Guide (for students, teachers and staff of Doshisha University)
| Admission | All the members of Doshisha University are required to carry their ID cards
(student/teacher/staff ID, or a library card) when entering the library. If you don’t have your ID card with you, please contact the main counter.

| Borrowing | Please bring the items you wish to borrow to the main counter with your ID card. The borrowing limit and the loan period are as follows:
The following items may not be borrowed but are available for in-library use only: reference materials, periodicals (academic journals, magazines, newspapers, law reports, etc.), audio-visual materials, non-circulating materials, Doshisha Archives materials, etc. |
| Returning | Please return borrowed items before the due date to the main counter, or to the book drop when the library is closed. |

- Materials held by Imadegawa Library (Neiseikan) and Learned Memorial Library can be borrowed or returned at any of these libraries.
My DOORS is an online portal to library services for individual users. It enables you to check the status of your loans and reservations, request photocopies or interlibrary loans, make purchase requests or workshop applications, and access other services. You can log in via DOORS.

| Renewal | To renew borrowed items, please bring them with your ID card to the main counter before the due date. Renewal extends the loan period and can also be done online via My DOORS unless the item has been reserved by another user. |
| Reservation | You can reserve items that are currently on loan to someone else. Please submit a reservation form at the main counter or apply online via DOORS. You may reserve and request up to a total of 10 items. An email notification will be sent to you once the requested item becomes available. It will remain on the
hold shelf for 10 days. For the details of how to reserve items via DOORS, please refer to Tips for DOORS 1 Search and Reservation. |
| Book Mailing Service | The book mailing service *in Japanese is provided for students who have difficulty visiting the library for personal reasons. The round-trip postage is to be paid by the applicant. |
| Microforms | To use microforms at Imadegawa Library (Neiseikan), please specify the reel (fisch) in advance for the delivery service and submit the Application Form for Microforms (Only Imadegawa Library [Neiseikan]) *in Japanese via DOORS. |
| Delivery Service | You can request book delivery of the following items:
You may request and reserve up to a total of 10 items. An email notification will be sent to you once the requested item is ready to be picked up. It will remain on the hold shelf for 10 days. Only non-circulating items stored in Hakuenkan Stacks will remain for 3 days. For the details of how to request items online via DOORS, please refer to Tips for DOORS 1 Search and Reservation. Requests for non-circulating materials in Off-campus Stacks and in Hakuenkan Stacks (part of the whole) via DOORS are not acceptable. Please submit the Application Form for Non-circulating Materials Stored in Off-campus Stacks *in Japanese online via DOORS, or contact the main counter for any inquiries. You can also request document (photocopy) delivery of non-circulating materials held in another campus library. Please apply at the Reference Counter or online via DOORS. | Materials that Require Prior Application | To request materials marked with “カウンター請求(要事前申請)” in the comments field on DOORS, please submit the Application Form for Materials that Require Prior Application *in Japanese online via DOORS. |
| Materials of Faculty Libraries and Research Laboratories | To use the materials held by faculty libraries or research laboratories, please inquire at the main counter or the reference counter. Availabilities and usage rules are different depending on each faculty library or research laboratory. |

- If you have overdue items, you will not be able to borrow, renew or reserve any further items, nor make requests for delivery, purchase, or interlibrary loan/photocopying services.
| Photocopying of Library Materials | Photocopying library materials within the limits of copyright law is permitted in
the library.

| Rare Books | The items in the Rare Books Room at Imadegawa Library are not available in the
library for the time being from the 11th August 2023 due to the rebuilding of Imadegawa Library. The
opening schedule for the new library will be announced on the special page The New Library
Project. Some of the items can be viewed on the webpage of Doshisha University Digital Collections. |
| Audio-visual Materials | To use audio-visual materials, please apply to the Main Counter. The materials cannot be borrowed. To use materials stored in Hakuenkan Stacks at Imadegawa Library (Neiseikan), please request delivery in advance via DOORS or at the Main Counter. |
| Libraries of Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts | To enter the library and borrow the library materials, full-time faculty and staff are required to carry their ID cards with them.Regular students need to apply for a library card in person at one of the libraries of Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts. Users other than the above, please inquire at the library counter. Library usage and hours differ depending on each library. Please check Doshisha Women’s College of Liberal Arts . |

This is a fee-based service that supports the research and study activities of students and full-time faculty and staff by providing scanned sections of materials held in the libraries of both campuses in PDF format.
